Admission Criteria

The Lycée Français International de Pékin is a member of the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Etranger (AEFE) network, and therefore provides priority and legal education to students of French nationality, students from a French school in the AEFE network or under contract with the Ministry of National Education.The school is also a school recognized by the Chinese authorities as a foreign school for children of non-Chinese nationality. In accordance with the regulations of the Beijing/ Chaoyang Education Commission (BEC/CYEC), LFIP welcomes children holding a foreign passport, as well as Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan. Students holding a passport of PRC and a long-term foreign residence permit, need an approval from Heads of school, under supervision of CYEC.The LFIP provides schooling for students from the age of 3. 

At the beginning of the school year in September 2025, the school will be able to accommodate students born between 1 January and 31 December 2022 in the Petite Section class. A mandatory medical check-up is required for every kindergarten student before their arrival at school. 

This can only be done in two dedicated hospitals.For certain levels, a proficiency in French is required to enroll at LFIP. From CE2 to Terminale, French-speaking students who do not come from the French education system (AEFE, MEN) will have to take a placement test in French and mathematics

For everyone:

  • Copy of the passports of the legal guardians, with a copy of the residence permit (exclusively for non-Chinese).
  • Copy of the foreign student’s passport, with a copy of the residence permit.

For families who are not residents in China at the time of application:

  • Proof of employment in Beijing (copies of Chinese visas/Chinese residence permits are to be provided upon arrival in China).
  • Copy of the family record book or birth certificate.
  • School records: report cards from the previous school year and the first two quarters of the current year.
  • Copy of the vaccination record (pages for Diphtheria Tetanus Polio vaccinations).
  • Registration contract (available for download at the end of the online registration form)

Motivation letter for specific sections, written in French or English by the parents:

  • From CE1 (year 2) to CM2 (year 5), in case of admission request to the international sections (British or Chinese).

From CP (year 1) to CE1 (year 2), beginners in French can join the Flesco section. An interview with the school administration is planned to assess the coherence of the family project and its alignment with the expectations and values of the French School.

From CE2 (year 3) to Terminale (year 12), new non-French-speaking students must provide a DELF or DALF certificate justifying a minimum level of French:

  • CE2 (year 3): DELF A2
  • CM1 et CM2 (year 4 and year 5): DELF A2+
  • 6ème et 5ème (year 6 and year 7): DELF B1
  • 4ème (year 8): DELF B1 with a minimum score of 80/100
  • 3ème (year 9): DELF B2
  • Lycée (High School): DALF C1

Parents will be directed to the Alliance française for the French proficiency evaluation process.

Aid for schooling in the form of a scholarship may be granted by the French Education Agency abroad (AEFE) to French children of families who do not have sufficient resources to ensure full or partial management of Tuition fees collected by schools outside France.School scholarships are not a right. They are granted within the limit of the annual allocation allocated to the AEFE.

Applications are made at the consulate, according to a specific approach and subject to registration at the Consulate General of France in Beijing.
